During the Second World War and the Cold War, it became a major administrative and manufacturing centre for the Ministry of Defence, with numerous establishments both above ground and in the old quarry tunnels. The early 21st century saw growth in Corsham's role in the film industry. The parish includes the villages of Gastard and Neston, which is at the gates of the Neston Park estate. The Neston Country Inn, near Corsham -
The Neston Country Inn is one of those rare and wonderful finds: a traditional village pub with a cosy bar, great rustic food and comfy rooms. Privately owned and run by Desrae and Tony Procos and dating back to the early 1800s the inn is tucked away close to the city of Bath and the M4 motorway. With their Mediterranean/European heritage, Des & Tony were raised in the African sunshine. This makes for some interesting twists to the fairly traditional menu. Throughout the year a variety of theme nights are hosted in the restaurant. A three-course South African dinner; a Mexican evening, or a Greek Taverna experience provide new and exciting food options. These are posted as they are planned. The pub is in Neston which is located just south of Corsham and is only 20 minutes from the M4 (junction 17), 15 minutes from Chippenham Train Station and 20 minutes from Bath. The car park is located at the front of the Inn on the corner of Church Rise.

Great Chalfield Manor Atworth, near Corsham -
Great Chalfield Manor was built ca.1465 by Thomas Tropenell, a wealthy business man who built and acquired several large estates during his time. At the heart of the house lies the Hall, flanked by unusually symmetrical gable cross wings and oriel windows. Over the years the different owners adapted and changed the manor, with the Great Hall turned into a farm house. Over the years several famous films and TV shows have been filmed at Great Chalfield, including 'The Other Boleyn Girl', 'Tess of the d'Urbervilles' and most recently it starred in 'Wolf Hall' as Austin Friars, Thomas Cromwell's house. Entrance to the manor is by guided tour only. To discover the beautiful interiors, pick up a ticket at visitor reception. Tours take place from Tuesday to Thursday at 11am, 12, 2, 3 and 4pm and hourly on Sunday from 2-4pm. Each tour takes 45 minutes.
Athelstan Museum Malmesbury, near Corsham -
Athelstan Museum tells the history of Malmesbury, an attractive hill top town built to a Saxon road plan on the site of a 2,800-year-old Iron Age hill fort and the area of North Wiltshire that surrounds it. Malmesbury, which lies on the edge of the Cotswolds, is a great place for a family day out and Athelstan Museum, with its collection of artefacts and explanation of local history is the place to start. Athelstan Museum has a wide-ranging collection illustrating many aspects of Malmesbury history; there are so many items that it is impossible to show all of them, or even a major part, so displays are rotated on a regular basis. Most of the collection is of local interest and importance but there are some articles of national significance. Malmesbury Lace was once much sought after; it was famed as a luxury fashion statement and the museum has a comprehensive collection, not only of the lace but of associated material. There is a wealth of paintings, engravings, drawings, photographs and other images. Some are very fine; pride of place goes to a drawing of the Market Cross by Tom Girton. There are many images of the Abbey, which illustrate its chequered history, with dilapidation and restoration. Malmesbury’s 15th Century Market Cross is well represented, naturally, and there are some wonderful pictures of the town and around.
